October 16th is National Bosses Day. National Boss Day was started in 1958 when State Farm Insurance employee, Patricia Bays Haroski, registered the holiday with the Chamber of Commerce of the United States. She designated October 16 as the special day because it was her boss/father’s birthday.
Ms. Haroski’s purpose was to designate a day to show appreciation for her boss and other bosses. She also hoped to improve the relationship between employees and supervisors. She believed young employees often do not realize the challenges bosses face in running a business.
National Boss Day offers employees an opportunity to recognize those in supervisory positions. Popular ways to say “thanks” include cards, a lunch in the boss’s honor, flowers, or gift certificates.
What to do about a gift..
I like this guy. The Virtual Yes Man is put in a small cube on your bosses computer screen to pour out praise and flattery! He laughs at your bosses jokes and kisses some serious ass!
Another common gift is the stress ball! WE can help you with that one! Get your company’s logo imprinted on it, maybe good for all bosses and supervisors.
The Instant Decision Maker! Woot!
A cute little helper who will do all the hard thinking and provide you with the best possible solution for any problem you might have. Just ask, spin, and presto instant decision-making!
The last idea I thought was a great one! If you can’t find a gift for your boss, they’ll appreciate the thoughtfulness of getting a fun toy for their pet!
