As we bring 2016 to a close, and as I wrap up December’s change cycle, I want to bring a very important topic to the table. Update your website!
Please take the 20 minutes or so and go through your website page by page. Look at your content, photos and most importantly events! Remember your website is your tool to keep your customers and potential customers informed, be sure the content they are reading is relevant. As I had mentioned in my previous blog post, Google and their bots crawl websites every 14-21 days. Be sure your content is up to date!
If I could give anyone pure gold advice, it would be this: make use of a marketing calendar. If this is a new concept to you, I will not lie, done right, this is a very time consuming project that takes days, if not weeks to finalize. Full blown marketing calendars include all promotions, donations, events, advertising, and communication pieces (social media, mailers, newsletters, etc). Don’t forget to budget for all of this and include it in the cost of printing, mailing, shipping, etc. Then the most important and obvious part, is to follow through with your marketing calendar. Set it up in your Google calendar with reminders and alerts, write it down on your paper desk calendar, even Post-It Note it to your computer screen! Scheduling out and not playing catchup is key when keeping up with your marketing efforts.
Though this should really be done around October, we have made a tool that is smaller, and doesn’t take as long to organize. Click here to download our Website Worksheet Planner. This document allows you to map out upcoming events, location hour changes, content and photo updates, and much more. Keep this next to your computer as a reminder of special dates. NOTE: This planner does not replace the monthly changes submission. Please make sure if you have any changes to make to your website, please get in touch with us according to your monthly maintenance plan.
Until next time. Cheers to a prosperous 2017.
