Are you a podcast listener? If you are, awesome! If you are not, you should be. According to Infinite Dial 19, 51% of the US population has listened to a podcast, up from 44% in 2018. 62 million people listen to podcasts weekly - which is 22% of the population. If anyone is like me and loves to listen to podcasts, there are 16 million “avid podcast fans”, according to Nielsen. (Here’s a great article.) I listen daily to podcasts and strongly believe that the ideas and inspiration that I hear help me grow personally and in business. I have come up with a list of my top 5 business podcasts and would like to share them with you so that you can learn right along with me.
Entreleadership Inspired by the book, Entreleadership by Dave Ramsey, Ken Coleman is the host of the Entreleadership podcast for businesses. Ken has his own unique interviewing style that provides businesses great information to help them grow. One week he might be talking about engaging your team, financial focus or even talk triggers.
Social Media Marketing with Michael Stelzner If you want the latest in what is happening with social media, Michael Stelzner is your guy. The Social Media Marketing podcast looks at all the different social media tools and provides the advantages and disadvantages of them - the good and the bad. He brings in experts each week which I totally love, and keeps things simple so the novice can actually understand them and what they are talking about. Michael gives us the tools we need as business owners (for free) to grow our business. Michael Stelzner is down to earth and I personally can’t wait to meet him in person to thank him for all that he has done for me as a person and as a business owner.
Storybrand Marketing by Donald Miller Donald Miller, the concept of story brand marketing, has helped me understand my own business and helped to build my clients businesses, specifically through designing websites. He provides 7 steps to crafting an effective marketing story that you can follow for your business. My biggest take away from Donald Miller is “when you confuse, you lose”. His book “Building a Storybrand”, is one of my all-time favorite books (I’ve read it twice).
Marketing School My favorite of all podcasts, hosts Neil Patel and Eric Sue, always provide great marketing ideas and concepts. They tested and tried many of the ideas they share with their listeners. This podcasts has guided me in the right direction. Neil and Eric provide great books, free marketing and seo tools, along with tips and tricks that can help any business. Typically, the podcasts are easy listening, and only around 7 minutes each. I can listen to one a day, or catch up at the end of the week.
Delivering Marketing Joy - This podcast features Kirby Hasseman, a business owner in the promotional products industry. I love Kirby’s interview style with each individual he interviews he asks thought provoking questions about marketing, sales, relationships and building business. At the end of each interview, he allows the interviewee to ask him a question as well. He keeps the podcasts short (average duration 15 minutes) and to the point. (PS - Kirby has other podcasts he does as well, here is his website.)
If you haven’t listened to any of these podcasts, I highly suggest you do. I learn something new every single day. For me, learning helps spark new ideas for my business and it provides me inspiration. As a part of our business core values, learning is essential, so I make it part of my responsibilities to share what I learn with the world. Try something different, listen to a podcast, and email or message me what you think about the podcasts, or send me your favorite podcasts, I’d love to hear from you.
